Gorgeous, haunting, and galvanizing. I hear a real clear reclamation of what kind of work, both accidental and transcendent, happens "by the way" to Jericho or anywhere else
Fabulous insights and like most of the Savior's stories, one can understand their meaning on multiple levels of understanding. In our current world, we are made aware of overwhelming suffering around the globe and we must make a difference wherever possible while at the same time not being bowled over by the magnitude of the suffering in every corner of the world. We can do our very best to serve whenever we see suffering but we can't save the entire global chaos. I agonize over how much service is enough. A famous quote from an anonymous author states,"Generosity is measured not by what we give away, but by what we keep for ourselves." Good thing God's we won't be perfect for a very LONG TIME!!!!
I love the depth of the parables, I think they have reinvigorated my discipleship more in recent times than anything else - thank you for this effective and thoughtful analysis

I did my best, God forgive me,
and left such sorrow in my wake.
