Deidre, I just finished reading this piece in my hard copy issue of Wayfare and immediately wished that I could sit down with you and chat about it. As a single, divorced woman in the church I've groped for an explanation for what I often feel when interacting with certain men in the church, and you can't imagine how thrilled I was to read about gendered epistemic confidence. And this line! "The most radical position we can take is to be faithful--to practice fidelity--to God, our own spiritual knowing, truth, and divine inspiration." Thank you! And to tie this whole idea to the story of Hannah brings the idea not just biblical mooring, but breathtaking beauty.
