April 22 & 23: Special Wayfare Musical Opportunity
Join us for a recording session and a live performance of an original Wayfare song
Dear Wayfarers,
Wayfare Issue 7 contains something special: a new piece of music by Jon Forsyth called “Let Me Drown With Moses,” which is equal parts bluesy and folky, inspired by Appalachian hymnody.
Even better, YOU are invited to join the first-ever Wayfare Flash-Mob-Sing-Thing to learn, record, and perform “Let Me Drown With Moses,” under the direction of Dr. Kameron Kavanaugh, artistic director of Sound of Ages.
Will you sing with us?
Part 1: Next Wednesday, April 22, 6:30PM
Our “ad hoc ward choir” will meet for one hour in Provo (near BYU) to learn and record (informally) this new piece of music. Note: The address will be sent to you after you sign up—see link below. Singers of all abilities are welcome, and we definitely want YOUR voice. (Especially recruiting basses and tenors ... you know how it is!)
Part 2: Next Thursday, April 23, 7:00PM
Our “ad hoc ward choir” will perform “Let Me Drown With Moses” at the Wayfare Issue 7 release party at The Compass Gallery in Provo (250 W Center St). Not only will the music be fun, but the event is always a great party, and you’ll be the first to hear and see the gems in Wayfare Issue 7.
Sign up and invite your friends too by filling out this quick form.
And if you haven’t already, RSVP for the release party at The Compass Gallery.
Thanks!
Wayfare Music Team
PS: Note that we’ll cap the choir at about 40 voices. First come, first sing.
